With a marriage spanning 65 years, it’s safe to say that Elwood and Martha Smith are as much in love today as they ever were.

These days, they spend their time together in a Brookdale community, but that doesn’t stop their happily ever after story. But what’s the secret to their happiness?

“We talk things out pretty well,” Elwood Smith says. “Don’t assert yourself as being the boss. It’s sharing the responsibility. If she’s got the best idea, use her ideas.”
