Every February during American Heart Month, the management of heart disease is top of mind at Brookdale. As the leading cause of death for women and men, heart disease is a chronic condition that we take very seriously as we help our residents manage their health.

As healthcare providers, you are likely well aware that chronic conditions in the U.S. are prevalent and on the rise, affecting nearly 60% of the adult population. This is an issue of particular concern among seniors, as nearly 95% of older adults have at least one chronic condition, and nearly 80% have two or more, according to the National Council on Aging (NCOA).

We can see these numbers reflected in the cost of senior care. In 2022, Medicare spending grew 5.9% to $944.3 billion, or 21% of the total national health expenditure.
